SPACE AND GESTURE

being awakened in/ doors by/ a storm, one tends/ in haste to make/ sure of the fixity of
the world/

—and with the world one/ obsesses, but at least can make/ certain in the storm-
induced dark that the globes/ painted globes, the sort/ artisanal, even or/ not are not

spinning and spinning/ on the floors (unlike/ persons spinning doing/ so really only
for pleasure) covered with wet/ window shards/

—and surely a clinking or a jingling if
heard—if such rotation/ related noises persist, then the said/ hearer and hence

thinker often says/ I must/ apply my still/ finger, and so through touch/ gains
surety at/ the expense of movement

PORTRAIT OF HENRI ROCHEFORT(1881)

—Édouard Manet

a face chipped by rain it drags/ every hair the damn/ hairline
blurs, ears in a lifetime/ never truly poked through the person top/ heavy
yes the certain sort of space something like a microwave/ would take/

a face the forehead extends/ connects the cheeks/ or cheeks/ and chin of which
             the leftovers
make the forehead/

all instants a face/ one instant/

instant-face two eyebrows/ nostrils lobes/ feet/

a face pulled back/ jerked-up/ stuck/ thinking
