Ralph M. Barnes, Motion and Time Study, Second Edition, John Wiley & Sons, 1940 OPERATING-ROOM SETUP SHOWING TABLES FOR INSTRUMENTS AND SUPPLIES DESIGNED TO FACILITATE THE WORK OF THE SURGEON, HIS ASSISTANTS, AND THE NURSES Contributed by Steven Wammack
|
__ The accepted operating room practice causes much useless
motion and delay on the part of assistants and nurses in handling instruments
and supplies. The redesigned arrangement shown eliminates many motions
in that the instruments and supplies are on either side of the surgeon,
enabling the nurses to face the operating table instead of turning around
to procure necessary articles from tables ordinarily located behind them.
