HEADACHE

James C. Coleman, Abnormal Psychology and Modern Life, Third Edition, Scott, Foresman and Co.

The graph traces the course of a headache induced during a discussion which evoked feelings of hostility in a patient. Both the changes in the amplitude of the artery pulsations and the corresponding increase and diminution in the intensity of the pain are shown. The headache was "cured" by means of an injection which the patient believed would end the suffering but which actually could have had no physical effect.
