STUMP POINTS ARE USUALLY BEST AND IN LAKES WITH A CURRENT, THE "UP-CURRENT" POINT IS BETTER

Q: Can you explain in more detail the key stump areas that you look for during the summer when the bass have moved out on structure?

A: It's important to remember that depth is the most important key. A great looking spot is good only if it's at the depth the bass are using. If you locate an excellent stump point, ledge, channel or whatever at 25' and the bass are using a preferred 17' depth range at the time, forget about the 25' spot, because it's a waste of time. You'll hear me repeat this throughout this book, but it's so very important. Now, look at [the figure at right. It] will answer your question precisely.
