KEY STUMPS

Q: You've shown that when there is a current, bass usually will be on the up-current side of a stump row, stump point, or bar. I live ona very shallow lake that has stumps from 1 to 6 feet deep, but there is no current. Where would I locate bass on a stump field here?

A: Fish the stumps closest to deeper water. If there is no deeper water close by, the bass could be anywhere. Also, when there is wind, the bass will likely be in the up-wind areas. See figure [at right].
