Search. This is the primary mode of the machine. The tape can move forward or backward during a search. While the tape is being scanned, comparisons are made with the question words stored in memory according to the logic wired in the plugboard. Mathces are stored in a buffer, and at the end of a completed scan through the tape, answers are printed-out on a Flexowriter.
