__

I was sitting on the curb in Kuta Beach in Bali facing the drinking establishments, feeling sort of sorry for myself because I wasn't drunk or on mushrooms even though I'd come all this way. I was trying to think of some way to salvage the moment, so I pulled out my notebook and wrote a series of sketches of events I saw happen from the curbside.

Then I was still not drunk or on mushrooms, so I assigned each word a number from one to nine, counting from the beginning of each sentence (and from the second word in the second sketch and from the third in the third, etc.) and then put all the words numbered the same in order in the new sentences you've got before you, which wrap around to incorporate the remainders at the beginning of each sketch.

It was a simple arrangement, and the point was to do what the title says. What it ended up doing is suggesting all sorts of associations and meanings that were not there in the first place. I thought that was pretty rad.
